The Luxmi Bhander was founded by Basanta Kumar Bhattacharjee in 1907 as
Distributor / C&F Firm. Seemanchal’s Biggest Distributor House dealing with companies like:
1) The Gramophone Company Ltd.
2) The Columbia Graphophone Co. Ltd.
3) CH Albrecht (Omega & Tissot).
4) Cadbury Fry (India) Ltd.
5) Dunlop Rubber Co. (India) Ltd.
6) Imperial Chemical Industries (India) Ltd.
7) Lever Brothers (India) Ltd.
The Luxmi Bhander expanded into financial services with a Private Bank and, after Basanta Kumar Bhattacharjee’s demise, was led by his eldest son Naresh Chandra Bhattacharjee. Established as a group in 1907, it diversified into construction, agriculture, banking, and retail. Dilip Kumar Bhattacharjee led retail, founding Katihar Stores (1954) and Super Complex (1989). After 2004, retail flourished. Ankita Bhattacharjee later revived the legacy through SINI & SPARSH.
